Week 1 of dinosaurs

We had so much fun our first week of dinosaurs!

We learned how to draw a dinosaur.

We talked about herbivores and carnivores.  Then sorted them in group time before doing a cut and sort activity.

We talked about what glyphs are (a picture that shows information) then made a dinosaur glyph. The children made a green dino if they were a boy, or pink for a girl. They then added a spot for each year of their age and a smile if they liked dinosaurs or a frown if they didn't.

We also talked about bar graphs, how we make them, and how to answer questions using the graph. We then found dinosaurs on our paper, counted them up, and graphed how many we found.

We started talking about measurement this week. We then did a measure the room activity where we used egg rulers to find items of varying lengths.

For cooking, we made dino oatmeal that had dino eggs that hatched when we added our milk!

Have a great weekend.

Last week of in the sky

We had so much fun this week!
We celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday by reading with our first grade buddies.

We practiced our patterning by making patterns with playdough.

We rolled word family dice and sounded out the letters we rolled to see if they were real or nonsense words.

One of our art projects was a rocket made from the letters of our names.

We also finished our space journals by writing about the planet Earth!

Have a great break. See you on March 24th!
