Last week of school

We had such a fun last week of school! We got to see a concert Monday morning put on by the 1st-6th graders.

We also got to make puppets that went with a story we read then use them to retell the story.

We learned about how, when some things get wet, they absorb the water and get bigger.

Finally, we had our last get together with our buddies. We watched Magic School Bus and had ice cream sundaes.

I always tell my students that, if they want to practice writing, they can write me a letter and I will write them back so be sure to keep in touch!

Have a great summer!

Last week of water

We finished up our last week of our water unit this week. We were able to finish up a few projects and learn lots of things along the way.

We learned about sharks and the parts of a shark. Plus, we did a few fun shark crafts like shark envelopes...

and shark hats!

After 3 weeks of hard work, we finished up our ocean creatures book. The children painstakingly cut, assembled, and wrote every page!!

Once we were done, they were able to admire their handiwork and share with their friends.

For cooking, we made peanut butter and jellyfish sandwiches. We cut bagels in half, put peanut butter on one side and jelly on the other.

We then pulled apart some licorice to use for the tentacles.

They turned out adorable!

We also used gummy sharks and Swedish fish in our estimation jar. After everyone made their guesses, we put them out in groups of 10 to practice counting by 10s. We found out there were 137 in all!

Have a great weekend!

Oceans week 2 and parent's day

This week was such a busy week. We reviewed patterning by using goldfish crackers. We practiced spelling our sight words. We even had a chance to finish up our gifts for Parent's day. Plus our parents day went so well. The children did amazing as waiters and waitresses and with their singing!
